Frequently Asked Questions

What is National School Choice Week?

National School Choice Week (NSCW) is a charitable program of the National School Choice Awareness Foundation (NSCAF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. NSCW shines a spotlight on effective K-12 education options for children. We focus equally on traditional public, charter, magnet, online, private, and home education options. Every January, our participants plan tens of thousands of events and activities––such as school fairs, open houses, and student showcases––to raise awareness of school choice across all 50 states. Year-round, NSCW develops resources and guides to assist families in searching for schools or learning environments for their children. We are nonpolitical and nonpartisan, and we do not advocate for legislation. National School Choice Week 2023 will take place from January 22–28, 2023.

Why does National School Choice Week sell merchandise?

The items in our shop are designed to raise awareness of opportunity in education. Yellow has become instantly recognizable as symbolic of opportunity and positivity in K-12 education. These items can take your School Choice Week celebrations to the next level and connect you with millions of others who are celebrating across the country during School Choice Week.

We offer these items for sale in addition to the free materials that participants in School Choice Week may receive when they register to celebrate with us and tell us about an event they are planning. Participants have asked for ways to add on to the supplies, the shop functions as an a la carte option as needed. All of the proceeds from the sale of NSCW merchandise benefit NSCAF’s charitable purposes.

Does National School Choice Week make a profit on merchandise sales?

Event and activity supplies in our store are priced either at or near cost for us. All proceeds from any sales benefit NSCAF’s charitable activities.
